A DIFFERENT WAY OF SAYING 'THANK YOU'- Nazeef Manegar
A
DIFFERENT WAY OF SAYING 'THANK YOU'
-nazeef manegar
I Recently joined an Islamic school where I serve as a Science
teacher. It was indeed overwhelming to watch kids reading Quran, performing
prayers, learning Arabic texts, Science and English. It is a school where education
meets Islam. It has been a month and it's already helping me to change myself,
pushing me towards the doors of Islam and opening the gates of knowledge where I get to learn Islamic
etiquette from the environment I live in.
when I joined KIAS, I was pretty sure that staff members
gets utmost hospitality from my side. I was assured of my behavior and was
advised by my mother; 'the kindness is
the first step to create relationships'
Days swiftly slipped into weeks and one fine day, a very
beautiful but thought provoking incident occurred with me. I had taken test for
grades 7 and I didn't have a red marking pen to correct the exam papers. I approached
one of the staff members. I asked him the red marking pen to which he smiled so
generously and handed over the pen.
'Thank you very much' I replied.
'Nazeef brother, please say jazakallahu khairan' He said.
Since that day, I say 'jazakallah hu khairan' to each and
everyone who does good to me. I try my level best to showcase my religion
through these words. My life is slowly taking a new form in which I am being
re-molded, re-evaluated and re-fashioned. In short, I am just a caterpillar
taking the shape of a butterfly sooner or later.
Recently I met with an incident where a non-Muslim
receptionist asked me to repeat these words as he couldn't get what I was
telling.
'JAZAKALLAH HU KHAIRAN, It is an Islamic word for thank you'
I said it with utmost confidence.
I could see the light beaming
on his face that shimmered like a diamond in the sky. He was delighted on listening
this and gave a smile of appreciation and satisfaction.
Sometimes, we take
internationally acclaimed word too
seriously that we live behind our own culture. We forget our own roots. We forget
that Muslims are meant to unite the whole humanity. We are meant to bring each
other closer. We are destined to showcase who we are and what are the values of our
religion towards us. Thus, we need to take a step! We need to change our tiny habits
and make it much more Islamic. All you have to do is to start doing things by
keeping Islamic perspective in mind.
I hope this tiny change will
definitely broaden our mind. I expect that you will end up with more productive
relationships once you start telling 'jazakallah hu khairan' instead of 'thank
you'. I am optimistic about the new resolution that I have taken. I also believe
that this will clear the doubts of them and they shall know that Islam is the religion
of peace. <3
